Credentials to access AAAS Newsroom resources are freely available to all career science communicators who wish to participate in the 2005 AAAS Annual Meeting.

What Documentation is Required?

We strongly encourage all newsroom participants to register in advance using the online form. Your press badge can then be picked up simply by presenting your valid photo identification to AAAS Newsroom staff on-site.

NASW MEMBERS

All career science communicators who are NASW members will receive a complimentary press badge from the AAAS Office of Public Programs. Current NASW membership and valid photo identification are required. Advance registration using the simple online form is strongly recommended. But, NASW members also may register on-site by presenting their current membership card and valid photo identification.

ALL OTHER NEWSROOM REGISTRANTS

Working reporters (staff or freelance), public information officers, journalism professors and students, as well as other career science communicators will receive complimentary registration to the 2005 AAAS Annual Meeting through the AAAS Office of Public Programs.

If you are a career science communicator but not a member of NASW, you will be welcomed after you provide the following credentials:

Reporters

• A business card clearly showing your media affiliation and position, or a current recognized press card distributed by a media outlet
  OR
  
• A recent bylined article written by you.

Public Information Officers

• A business card clearly showing your position (e.g. communications officer, editor, writer, public affairs director, public information specialist)
  OR
  
• Recent materials distributed to the press (news releases, media advisories or tip sheets on which you are listed as the contact)

Journalism Professors and Journalism Students

AAAS welcomes journalism professors and students!

Accepted credentials for journalism professors:

• Journalism professors must send in advance a letter on official letterhead certifying that they are attending the conference in order to accompany students as part of a class activity.
• Journalism students must send in advance, or present on-site, a letter on official letterhead from their professor, certifying that they are attending the conference as part of a journalism class activity with their registration.

Scientists, lobbyists, advertising or marketing professionals and other general registrants must complete the general registration process and pay the fee. If you are a general registrant, please watch for a notice on the AAAS home page, or contact the Meetings staff at (202) 326-6450 or aaasmeeting@aaas.org.
