EurekAlert! will host an afternoon reception from 2 - 4 p.m. on Friday, February 18 in the Cotillion Ballroom South in the Marriott Wardman Park. All press registrants are invited to attend the event, which is sponsored by The Pfizer Journal.

AAAS Science Journalism Awards
AAAS will host a special reception on Friday, 18 February from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, 1250 New York Avenue, N.W. The winners of the 2004 Science Journalism Awards will be announced. The Awards Ceremony will also feature a performance by Sweet Honey in the Rock, the Grammy Award-winning, African-American female a cappella ensemble, to honor the winners. This event is open to all 2005 AAAS Annual Meeting newsroom registrants. Beginning at 7:15 p.m., shuttle buses will leave from and return to the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. Signs will be posted. Guests will be asked to show a 2005 AAAS Annual Meeting press registration badge at the door. The awards are sponsored by Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research & Development, L.L.C.

The World Federation of Science Journalists will hold a business meeting at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, 19 February in the news briefing room during the 2005 AAAS Annual Meeting.

COMPASS will host the fourth annual Marine Mixer on Saturday, February 19th at Café Paradiso, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Marine scientists and journalists interested in marine science are invited to attend. The annual NASW Science Writers' Party will be held on Saturday, 19 February from 6-10pm at Lulu's Club Mardi Gras, 1217 22nd Street, N.W. There will be free food and drink, a rockin' dance band, and live DJ. You'll need your AAAS press badge, NASW membership card, or a note from your hosts, the D.C. Science Writers Association (DCSWA) to get in. Lulu's is a short cab ride from the Woodley Park hotels. Or take the Red Line Metro to Dupont Circle. Walk south on New Hampshire Ave. for 5 minutes until you hit M St. Lulu's entrance is on M, between 21st and 22nd Sts.

ISWA will convene its annual membership and business meeting at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, 20 February, in the news briefing room during the 2005 AAAS Annual Meeting.

Knight Science Journalism Fellowship at MIT Reception for current, former and prospective fellows will be on Sunday, February 20, 5:00 to 7:00, at the Hoover Room of the Marriott Park Wardman.
