AAAS Annual Meeting

More than 750 scientific leaders will participate in the 2005 AAAS Annual Meeting, focusing on "The Nexus: Where Science Meets Society." Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson, AAAS President and President of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), will open the meeting with a plenary lecture at 6:30 PM on Thursday, 17 February 2005.

The multidisciplinary program will feature over 150 symposia, plenary and topical lectures; a poster competition; career fair; career workshops; and an exhibit hall. Seminars and tutorials will offer in-depth looks at genomics and nanotechnology, explore ways to deal with high-throughput data and delve into the issues of seamlessness from K-20.

A special event will kick off the World Year of Physics 2005 in the United States and the 2nd Annual Family Science Days will present an opportunity for the general public to explore the many faces of science in our lives.
