In addition to breaking research news, the 2008 AAAS Annual Meeting offers a full roster of social and networking opportunities for Newsroom registrants. Additional details will be forthcoming, but the following events will be part of the Newsroom events lineup:

International Reporters Reception -- AAAS will welcome international reporters with a special reception from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, 14 Feb. Sheraton Boston, Commonwealth Room. Sponsored by Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development L.L.C.

European Commission Press Breakfast -- All newsroom registrants are invited to a breakfast opportunity on Friday, 15 Feb., from 8:00 a.m to 9:00 a.m, with Janez Potocnik, European Union Science and Research Commissioner. He will discuss key success stories of European research, the European research programs and international cooperation opportunities in the European Research Area. Sponsored by the European Commission. Room 100, Hynes Convention Center.

Lunch Opportunity -- P&G Beauty will sponsor a complimentary buffet lunch in the Boylston Hallway outside the newsroom area on Friday, 15 Feb. from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

EurekAlert! Reception -- EurekAlert! will host a reception from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Friday, 15 Feb. The event, sponsored by ESOF2008, will be in the Hynes Convention Center, Room 100. All newsroom registrants are invited.

AAAS Science Journalism Awards -- There will be a gala reception and award ceremony in honor of the winners of the 2007 AAAS Science Journalism Awards, sponsored by Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development L.L.C. The reception will be 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Friday, 15 Feb., at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Shuttle buses will be provided from the Sheraton Boston.

Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research & Development, L.L.C. Press Breakfast -- This sponsored breakfast on Saturday, 16 Feb. at 8:00 a.m. in Room 100, Hynes Convention Center, will discuss global life science R&D issues and trends.

Local Science Writers Party -- The New England Science Writers will host an evening party for newsroom registrants at Fenway Park. More details to come.

Argonne National Laboratory Breakfast -- Argonne National Laboratory will sponsor a press breakfast on Sunday, 17 Feb., from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Room 100, Hynes Convention Center.

International Science Writers Association -- ISWA holds its membership and business meeting in the News Briefing Room on Sunday, 17 Feb., at 4:30 p.m.
