Press Breakfast -- The European Commission will host a press breakfast on Friday, 13 February at 8:00 a.m. The breakfast will be held in the Comiskey Room, Bronze Level, West Tower, Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 East Wacker Drive.
This briefing and roundtable is sponsored by the European Commission, Directorate-General for Research. The speaker will be Josť Manuel Silva Rodriguez, director general of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Research.

Local Science Writers Party -- The Chicago Science Writers will host an evening party for Newsroom registrants on Friday, 13 February at the Mid-America Club atop a skyscraper near the meeting hotels.
Press Breakfast -- The Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers will host a press breakfast on Saturday, 14 February at 8:00 a.m. The breakfast will be held in the Comiskey Room, Bronze Level, West Tower, Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 East Wacker Drive.
The speakers will be Rudi Balling, scientific director of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, and Thomas Gazlig, director of communication and media relations, Helmholtz Association.
AAAS Science Journalism Awards -- There will be a gala reception and award ceremony to honor the winners of the 2008 AAAS Science Journalism Awards, sponsored by Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development L.L.C. The reception will be from 7:00 p.m. to 10:OO p.m. on Saturday, 14 February at the Art Institute of Chicago.
