Dr. Amy Weinberg collaborates with the University of Maryland Center for Advanced Study of Language's executive leadership on strategic, business and research development initiatives. She provides leadership and technical direction in current and new research areas, identifies and develops customer relationships, and works to strengthen the role of CASL as an interdisciplinary force within the university.

About Amy Weinberg, Ph.D.

A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a PhD in linguistics and philosophy, Dr. Weinberg worked as an associate professor in the University of Maryland's Department of Linguistics and the Institute for Advanced Computer Studies until 2004, when she joined CASL as area director for technology use.

She specializes in researching topics at the intersection of computer science, psychology, and linguistics, and has made substantial contributions in machine translation and sentiment analysis, with particular emphasis on marrying statistical models and linguistic theory. Weinberg has also proposed a number of methods to decrease the developmental cost of structurally driven translation systems.
