About the Author
Dr. Stephen C. Danforth received his Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D in materials science from Brown University in 1974, 1975, and 1978, respectively. He was a Research Associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1978 to 1982.
Today, he is chair of the department of ceramic and materials engineering at the Malcolm G. McLaren Center for Ceramic Research, School of Engineering, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Danforth heads the Rutgers School of Engineering program “Nanomaterials Science and Engineering: An Enabling Paradigm Shift for Photonics, Energy, Electronics and Biology”; funded by a New Jersey Commission on Higher Education Workforce Excellence grant. The program helps Rutgers communicate the excitement of nanotechnology and nanomaterials to K-12 students.
Danforth is a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society. The joint inventor on one patent, he has published over 80 referred papers.
