Mission to Mars: UH sponsors Red Planet rover exhibition
On the heels of a meteor seen flaming across the Texas sky recently, Houston-area grade schoolers will land with homemade Mars rovers at the University of Houston campus Saturday, Feb. 28 at the annual Mars Rover Model Celebration and Exhibition. Students who've built vehicles to withstand and explore the surface of Mars will showcase their models in a competition. More than 60 Mars rover models will be presented at this public event.

Hold that tissue: Allergy help may be on the way
German chemists have developed a way to tell people with allergies exactly what kind of pollen is in the air, instantly, and how much there is flying around. The test could help people avoid high levels of pollen that trigger allergies.

Tracking songbird migration
For the first time, researchers have tracked the seasonal migration of songbirds from Pennsylvania all the way to South America and back. This study reveals that the small birds can fly much farther and much faster than anyone had thought possible. Now, researchers can see exactly which migration routes the birds take each spring and fall as well.
