Nuclear Reactor Core Simulation on iPhone (IMAGE) University of Utah Caption iPhone software developed at the University of Utah's Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute is being used by the university's Nuclear Engineering Program to display computer-generated simulations of a nuclear reactor's core. The simulation displayed here shows a side view of the fuel rod assembly within the university's TRIGA research reactor. Red indicates the region of the core where the nuclear fission reaction is strongest. The iPhone visualization software, ImageVis3D Mobile, is free through the Apple App Store, but the reactor simulation software is not commercially available.
