The ALMA Telescopes (IMAGE) University of Copenhagen - Niels Bohr Institute Caption The Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) in northern Chile consists of 66 radio telescopes that collectively observe the sky in the millimeter and submillimeter wavelength range. By observing the distant galaxy with the ALMA telescopes at infrared wavelengths, scientists could detect its dust.
