A physical chemist, Wang's research examines ways to use nanotechnology as a potential platform for clean energy applications. While many of the concepts may seem abstract to the non-chemist, Professor Wang uses a hydrogen-powered, remote-controlled car to engage kids and also teach them about clean energy. Other gadgets show how solar power can be converted into electricity. Professor Wang's goal in this outreach effort is to demystify what can sometimes be intimidating scientific concepts. Wang's research and community outreach have been recognized with a National Science Foundation grant to expand both efforts.
