An Adult Horned Lizard (IMAGE) University of California - Riverside Caption This is an adult horned lizard of the genus Phrynosoma. Horned lizards specialize on ants, have a squat, tank-like body shape, short legs, and cannot run very fast. However, their cryptic coloration, spines, and the ability to squirt blood from a sinus below their eyes serve as effective anti-predator strategies. Credit Theodore Garland, UC Riverside.
