Caption: Biodesign Institute associate research scientist Melha Mellata, and Roy Curtiss, director of the institute's Center for Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology, have fully characterized a vector to use in Salmonella vaccine to provide protection against poultry disease called avian pathogenic E. coli (APEC). The vaccine could also help prevent harmful bacterial infections in humans.
