Caption: Ten-weeks' practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique helped to buffer effects of stress. At post-test, just before finals week, the students who had not learned the practice significantly increased in number of responses to a stressful stimulus. The students who had learned and practiced the TM technique for 10 weeks actually decreased in their response to stress -- they had habituated, indicating a more integrated style of functioning.
