Tamarisk Defoliation Study Area

Caption: Small box on Utah map, left, shows area studied by University of Utah researchers who tested the feasibility of using satellite images to monitor the effects of saltcedar leaf beetles that were released to defoliate tamarisk, an invasive plant that has taken over riverbanks throughout the Southwest. Inset map, right, shows location of study sites, including the Entrada Field Station on the Dolores River and sites C1, C2, C3 and C4 on the Colorado River. The locations marked 2004, 2005 and 2006 are places where beetles were releases in those years.
