Caption: NASA's Aqua satellite AIRS instrument caught a new tropical depression that just formed in the Philippine Sea on Nov. 2 at 0523 UTC (1:23 p.m. local time, Manila) and already on the fringe of the Philippines. The infrared imagery is showing some high thunderstorms (purple) indicating some heavy rainfall and strong convection.
