Images Reveal Detail of Earliest Metazoans

Caption: Isosurface model of a 31-celled embryo, illustrating asynchronous cleavage within the first animals. Every fifth slice through the margins of each cell have been emphasized, and cell models have been rendered opaque and shaded different colors. This image relates to an article that appeared in the October 13, 2006, issue of the journal Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. James W. Hagadorn of Amherst College and colleagues, was titled "Cellular and Subcellular Structure of Neoproterozoic Animal Embryos."
