Caption: This illustration shows how a touch-based or "haptic" device conveys navigation information to a person's fingertip, in this case information to move forward. A new University of Utah study shows that when such devices were mounted on the steering wheel of a driving simulator, they could accurately convey information to drivers on whether to turn left or right.
