UV Light Critical to Spider Courtship

Caption: Close up of Cosmophasis umbratica. C. umbratica has excellent eyesight that is sensitive to UV light and the males and females have UV-reflective body parts. This image relates to article that appeared in the 26 January 2007 issue of the journal Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Matthew L. M. Lim and colleagues of National University of Singapore in Singapore, was titled “Sex-Specific UV and Fluorescence Signals in Jumping Spiders.”
