RV Knorr was returning to Cape Town after deploying current meter moorings across the Agulhas Current during the first cruise of the Agulhas Current time-series experiment. Clipper Stad Amsterdam was re-sailing the voyage of the Beagle, on which Darwin collected specimens from around the world and derived his theory of evolution.
