Caption: Pediatrician Dr. Octavio Ramilo is among the infectious disease specialists who have discovered a new method for identifying viruses and bacteria that cause some of the most common infections in children. Researchers at UT Southwestern, Children's Medical Center Dallas and Baylor Institute for Immunology Research now analyze the telltale 'fingerprints' a disease leaves behind on cells involved in the immune response, and use that information to get a composite sketch of the infectious agent.
