Lower Latitudes Pollute Pristine Pole

Caption: Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) satellite image from July 5, 2004, showing the intrusion of thick smoke from boreal forest fires (red dots) into the Canadian Maritime Arctic. This image relates to an article that appeared in the March 16, 2007, issue of the journal Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Kathy S. Law and colleagues at IPSL-CNRS and Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, France, was titled "Arctic Air Pollution: Origins and Impacts."
