Ocean's Eye View of a Storm Surge

Caption: This high resolution satellite image of the eye of Hurricane Ivan from NASA's Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) - Aqua at 18:50 UTC on September 15, 2004 was produced by the Ocean Optics Section at the Naval Research Laboratory, Stennis Space Center, MS 39529-5004. Photo has been water-colored and sharpened in Photoshop. This image relates to an article that appeared in the March 23, 2007, issue of the journal Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Ewa Jarosz and colleagues at Naval Research Laboratory in Stennis Space Center, MS, was titled "Bottom-Up Determination of Air-Sea Momentum Exchange Under a Major Tropical Cyclone."
