The Root of Resistant Malaria in Southeast Asia? (2 of 5)

Caption: Resistance to artemisinin is currently emerging in western Thailand. Parasites from here were used to identify the region of the parasite genome that underlies resistance to artemisinin. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the April 6, 2012, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Ian Cheeseman at the Texas Biomedical Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas, and colleagues was titled, "A Major Genome Region Underlying Artemisinin Resistance in Malaria."
