Graphene Capsule Brings Liquids Into Clearer Focus (1 of 3)

Caption: This is an artist's rendition of a graphene liquid cell. Opposing graphene sheets form a sealed liquid nanoscale reaction chamber, transparent to an electron beam probe. The cell allows nanocrystal growth, dynamics and coalescence to be captured in real time at atomic resolution via TEM. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the April 6, 2012, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by J.M. Yuk at the University of California, Berkeley in Berkeley, Calif., and colleagues was titled, "High-Resolution EM of Colloidal Nanocrystal Growth Using Graphene Liquid Cells."
