The Northern Hemisphere, a Smaller Carbon Sink?

Caption: View from a profiling aircraft over Colorado. Based on evaluation of airborne samples, Stephens et al. conclude that northern ecosystems are removing less CO2 from the atmosphere than previously thought. This image relates to an article that appeared in the June 22, 2007, issue of the journal Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Britton Stephens and colleagues at National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo., was titled "Weak Northern and Strong Tropical Land Carbon Uptake from Vertical Profiles of Atmospheric CO2."
