Caption: This infrared image was taken on June 18 at 0441 UTC (12:41 a.m. EDT) from the AIRS instrument on NASA's Aqua satellite shows the northern quadrant of Typhoon Guchol brushing Kadena Air Base. The purple areas show the strongest storms and coldest cloud top temperatures. Those are the areas of heaviest rainfall. Notice the bands of thunderstorms east and south of the center.
