Caption: This infrared image of Tropical Storm Miriam was captured by the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) instrument aboard NASA's Aqua satellite. The image was taken on Sept. 23 at 2011 UTC and revealed that Miriam had a huge area (purple) of strong thunderstorms and heavy rainfall around the center of circulation.
