Caption: The turnip aphid (Lipaphis erysimi) exclusively feeds on plants of the crucifers and prefers different chemical compounds than the cabbage aphid, hence selecting for different plant genotypes. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the Oct. 5, 2012, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Tobias Züst at University of Zürich in Zürich, Switzerland, and colleagues was titled, "Natural Enemies Drive Geographic Variation in Plant Defenses."
