Stephen Long and Don Ort, University of Illinois

Caption: Stephen Long (right), Gutgsell Endowed Professor of Crop Sciences and Plant Biology at University of Illinois, will serve as Project Director on a five–year, $25-million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to improve the photosynthetic properties of key food crops. Don Ort, Robert Emerson Professor of Plant Biology at University of Illinois, will serve as Associate Director. Illinois research will take place at the Institute for Genomic Biology.
