Maxillary Sinuses

Caption: The maxillary sinuses, those pouches on either side of the human nose, change their size depending on the shape of the nasal cavity, according to a research team led by the University of Iowa. The study shows why the maxillary sinuses in African-origin faces (shown at right) differ from those of European origin.
