Green Algae Genome Gives History Lesson (6 of 7)

Caption: Immunofluorescence microscopy image of Chlamydomonas cells labeled with antibodies to the intraflagellar transport protein IFT46 (green) and HA-tagged Parkin Co-Regulated Gene protein (red). The anti-IFT46 antibody labels basal bodies and, to a lesser extent, flagella; the PACRG protein is localized to the flagella in a gradient that decreases from base to tip. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Oct. 12, 2007, issue of the journal Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Sabeeha S. Merchant and colleagues at the University of California, Los Angeles in Los Angeles, was titled "The Chlamydomonas Genome Reveals the Evolution of Key Animal and Plant Functions."
