Micropillars Embedded in the Shearing Blade (image) DOE/SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory Share Print E-Mail Caption This scanning electron micrograph shows the micropillars embedded in the shearing blade used in the printing process. The pillars are 35 micrometers by 42 micrometers -- less than half the width of an average human hair in both directions -- and mix the organic semiconductor solution, ensuring it's evenly deposited.
