Caption: This video shows a control mouse doing a task to test cognitive skills. The mouse must start the test, then scan and touch the screen at the spot where a light flashed, in order to collect a reward. The "Forest Gump" mice which had an over-expression of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, failed miserably at the task compared to normal mice. However, they outperformed the control mice when it came to running and motor endurance. The study by Marco Prado, PhD, of Western University's Robarts Research Institute, is published in the Journal of Neuroscience.
