Gene for Rare Growth Condition Identified (2 of 2)

Caption: Normal human fibroblast cells growing on a glass slide. In red is the pericentrin protein, which is defective in MOPDII. In green, alpha-tubulin which is part of the spindle apparatus during mitosis and is defective in MOPDII due to the lack of pericentrin. Chromatin is stained in blue. This image relates to article that appeared in the Jan. 4, 2008, issue of the journal Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Anita Rouch of the University Erlangen-Nuremberg and colleagues, was titled "Mutations in the Pericentrin (PCNT) Gene Cause Primordial Dwarfism."
