Where Hunger May Hit Hardest in 2030 (4 of 4)

Caption: Agricultural villages in the Sahel region of Niger, where food production focuses largely on sorghum and millet. Work by the authors is some of the first to systematically address likely climate impacts on such "minor" crops, which are rarely eaten in rich countries but of fundamental importance in many poor regions. This image relates to an article that appeared in the Feb. 1, 2008 issue of the journal Science, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. David Lobell and colleagues at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, Calif., was titled "Prioritizing Climate Change Adaptation Needs for Food Security in 2030."
