Viral Replication Process

Caption: Multiscale computer simulations show the molecular details of the flow of protons shuttling between specific water molecules (purple) through the influenza A protein for the first time. The red and white figures represent additional water molecules, while the blue-green figures show the histidine amino acid residues that assist this proton flow at the "heart" of the M2 channel within the protein. Scientists and drug designers have sought to understand the M2 channel at this level of detail for two decades.
