Caption: An example of a plant-animal interaction: flying jay (Garrulus glandarius) transporting an acorn from the parent tree. Some species of trees depend on animal species to be dispersed, in contrast to being dispersed by the wind. This image relates to an article that appeared in the June 5, 2008, issue of Science Express, published by AAAS. The study, by Dr. Daniel Montoya and colleagues at Universidad de Alcalá in Madrid, Spain, was titled "Animal Versus Wind Dispersal and the Robustness of Tree Species to Deforestation."
