Changes in resting energy expenditure after weight loss in obese African American and white women. by Gary D Foster, Thomas A Wadden, Rebecca M Swain, Drew A Anderson and Renee A Vogt. Published in the January 1999 issue of The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

The prevalence of obesity is greater in Black than white women in the U.S. One explanation is provided in this study showing that Black women on reducing diets lost less weight while burning less resting energy than white women.
