Pharmaceutical and personal care products: What happens when they enter the environment - an emerging concern

Human and veterinary pharmaceuticals and personal care products - cosmetics, food supplements, sunscreens, fragrances, etc. - may be released into sewage, rivers and groundwater after being ingested or applied. The first major symposium on the topic in the United States will be discussed Monday, March 27, 12:15 p.m. (PST), at the 219th national meeting of the American Chemical Society, the world's largest scientific society, in San Francisco, Calif.
