The gene is out of the bottle: Where to next?

The Gene Media Forum and The Pew Initiative on Food and Biotechnology present:

The gene is out of the bottle: Where to next?

As the debate about genetically modified foods continues, scientists are applying genetic modification technology to other species, including fish and insects.

These applications raise questions that will expand the debate beyond concerns about food safety. Panelists with a wide range of views will discuss some of the products being developed and outline the issues that need to be addressed as we prepare for this next round of genetically engineered products.

Panelists:

* Charles B. (Ben) Beard, Ph.D., Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
* Bruce M. Chassy, Ph.D., University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
* Anne Kapuscinski, Ph.D., University of Minnesota
* Doreen Stabinski, Ph.D., Science Advisor to Greenpeace’s Genetic Engineering Campaign
