Delphi high school teacher wins regional chemistry teaching award

Patricia A. Mason, a chemistry teacher at Delphi High School in Delphi, Ind., is being honored with the Great Lakes Regional High School Chemistry Teaching Award from the American Chemical Society, the world's largest scientific society. The award will be presented at the Society's 33rd Central/Great Lakes joint regional meeting on June 11 in Grand Rapids, Mich.

A chemistry and physics teacher for 23 years, Mason joined the faculty of Delphi High School in 1990. She serves as chemistry department chair and teaches Chemistry I, Applied Chemistry, AP Chemistry and Physics. She teaches her students fundamental chemical concepts, while also engaging them in hands-on projects and laboratory work.

Mason earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemistry from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind.. She resides in West Lafayette with her husband, Frank.
