Japanese minister reveals plan for science and technology
Washington D.C.-August 30, 2001- Koji Omi, Japan's Minister of State for Science and Technology Policy, has emerged as a leading proponent for bolstering the role of S&T in Japan. As administrator of policy and budgetary matters relating to science and technology in Japan, Minister Omi has recommended an increase in government funding for research and development (R&D) over the course of five years through Japan's Basic Plan for S&T. In his lecture, sponsored by the Washington Science Policy Alliance, Minister Omi will discuss the future and basic plan for S&T in Japan and bilateral cooperation with the United States on those issues.
