CHICAGO — Marion Thurnauer, Ph.D., director of chemistry at Argonne National Laboratory, will address women’s increasing role in science in the 21st century at the 222nd national meeting of the American Chemical Society, the world’s largest scientific society. The meeting will be held August 26-31 in Chicago.
Thurnauer joined Argonne National Laboratory as a postdoctoral appointee in 1974. She was instrumental in developing the Science Careers in Search of Women Conference, an annual outreach to young Chicago-area women considering scientific and technical careers. Thurnauer earned her Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Chicago and has authored more than 80 journal articles and book chapters.
