Emerging trends: Scientific evidence in the courtroom

The National Conference on Science and the Law will focus on the reliability of scientific evidence and witness credibility in the courtroom. These criminal justice professionals and members of the scientific and academic communities will explore emerging issues regarding the use of scientific evidence in the courtroom. The three-day program will include sessions and presentations on courtroom evidence and a mock admissibility hearing on electronic/digital evidence. Dr. Mark Frankel, program director at the American Association for the Advancement of Science, will be discussing its Court-Appointed Scientific Evidence project and Forensic Science Project, both dealing with science in the courtroom. Other speakers include Margaret Berger, Professor of Law at the Brooklyn Law School; David G. Boyd, Director of Office of Science and Technology at the Department of Justice; and David Faigman, Professor of Law at University of California, Hastings College of Law.
