Small Wonders: NSF showcases potential of Nanotechnology

NSF records progress, announces new investments

The National Science Foundation (NSF) will host leading researchers at a syposium and exhibition of nanoscale science and engineering on Thursday, September 13. NSF Director Rita Colwell will unveil major NSF investments in new centers.

The ability to assemble materials and devices at the level of atoms and molecules-the nanoscale-is expected to profoundly change the way we live. Nanotechnology could produce new medical treatments, ultra-small computers, lighter and stronger materials and breakthroughs in energy production and environmental quality.

Live, streamed video of portions of the event will be accessible via the Internet; times and the URL will be provided in a separate advisory.
