Results of study of state's graduated licensing to be discussed

Researchers will announce the latest results of a University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill study of the state’s graduated licensing system at a news briefing at the Highway Safety Research Center Tuesday (Oct. 2). The briefing will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the center’s conference room on the third floor of the Bolin Creek Center in Chapel Hill.

Dr. Robert D. Foss, staff associate at the HSRC, will describe the study, which found the system has led to fewer accidents and deaths among young N.C. drivers. A report on the findings will appear in the Oct. 3 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Limited parking will be available beside the center, which is located on Airport Road about a third of a mile north of the intersection of Franklin and Columbia streets.
