These are highlights of the nationwide 2001 National Chemistry Week celebration, November 4-10, coordinated by the American Chemical Society and its 189 local sections. The celebration is an opportunity for children of all ages to have fun learning about chemistry and art.

The schedule of public events in Washington, DC follows. Activities are free unless noted.

Across the country, ACS local sections, industrialists, educators and promoters of chemistry awareness will have events in museums, malls, libraries, schools and parks, displaying the wonders of chemistry and art.

This annual weeklong celebration begins at the Society’s Washington, DC headquarters at 1:00 p.m. on November 5, with a 125th anniversary tribute, featuring John Fortman of Wright State University.
