Sessions on bioterrorism featured at Tropical Medicine Meeting

Special session on Anthrax and Preparedness for Smallpox

The American Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene has just added a special session, “Update on Anthrax and Preparedness for Smallpox,” to be held during the Society’s annual meeting in Atlanta. The special session will take place on Wednesday, November 14th, 11:45 am-1:00 pm in the Grand Ballroom of the Atlanta Hilton.

Premeeting Course: Updates on Special Bacterial Pathogens BACKGROUND ONLY

All premeeting sessions are open to the press on a background only basis. Press registration will be required for each session and seating is limited.

Enteric Infections and Food Safety, Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, 1 pm-5:15 pm. Topics include cholera, typhoid, shigellosis, E. coli, campylobacteriosis, listeriosis, and an update on food safety.

Bioterrorism Recognition and Other Topics, Saturday, November 11, 2001, 8 am-12 pm. Speakers will focus on brucellosis, botulism, anthrax, melioidosis, tularemia, plague, and smallpox.

Biological Warfare, Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001. 1:45-3:30 pm. Presentations will include the role of USAMRIDD and the Civilian Response System.
