American Society of Plant Biologists
American Society of Plant Biologists Annual Meeting: Plant Biology 2002
The American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) annual meeting, Plant Biology 2002, will be held August 3-7, 2002 in Denver, Colorado, USA at the Adams Mark Hotel. The latest advances in plant science will be presented by leading researchers at the meeting.
Featured symposia at the meeting will be:
- President's Symposium -- "Dynamic Processes" organized by Vicki Chandler, University of Arizona
- Gibb's Medal Symposium -- "High Throughput Plant Biology in the Post-Genomics Era" organized by Ken Feldmann, Ceres, Inc.
- "Plant Responses to Global Climate Change" organized by Steve Long, University of Illinois
- "Transition to Flowering" organized by Rick Amasino, University of Wisconsin
- "The Dynamic Cytoskeleton in Plant Cell Biology" organized by Chris Staiger, Purdue University
The meeting will also feature many workshops, exhibits, networking and social events.
ASPB is a non-profit science society of nearly 6,000 plant scientists, including professors and students, biochemists, cell and molecular biologists, geneticists, physiologists, and other plant scientists. Research by ASPB members increases existing knowledge of biological processes of plants resulting in many benefits including new and more efficient practices in the growth of plants for food, fiber, fuel, industrial chemcials, medicine and protection of the environment.
ASPB publishes two of the most widely cited plant science journals in the world, Plant Physiology and The Plant Cell. This year, ASPB changed its name from the American Society of Plant Physiologists (ASPP) founded in 1924. The name change reflects the broader membership of plant scientists who have joined the Society in recent years in addition to physiologists.
